All Aboard The Sales Acceleration Train

Sales leaders and CEOs measure everything that moves. Metrics, six sigma, and lean principles help us get handles on our business. I'm a huge fan of good branding and inbound marketing strategies. It's great when operations, support, and product development are rock solid. But none of it really matters if you can't get customers to buy and love your product, and that all hinges on sales.

Become An Overnight Success

In 1973, WD-40 Company, Inc., went public. On that very first day the stock price increased by 61%. That’s what I call an overnight success. Personally, I love WD-40 and have used it for all kinds of things. Between WD-40 and duct tape, I’m like MacGyver minus the awesome haircut.

Did you know the makers of WD-40 failed 39 times before successfully developing the formula? That’s how WD-40 got its name, “Water Displacement - 40th Formula”, because it took exactly 40 times to finally get the formula right. I know, MacGyver would’ve got it right the first time. The truth is overnight success is rarely overnight.

Stop With The Bad B.S.

How many times has your thinking made you miss an opportunity? Our belief system (B.S.) often becomes the limiting factor to accomplishing the “impossible”. Henry Ford is famous for saying “if you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” We’ve all bought into bad B.S. before. The sooner you stop with the bad B.S. the sooner you will achieve great things. Check out this great video about belief systems from the Performance Institute.

How To Predict The Future

Some people have it, most people don’t. People call it foresight, vision, even magic. At the end of the day, we would all be better off if we just knew how to predict the future.

Warning: This Might Get You Promoted

If you’re serious about taking your game to the next level, there are three things you can do to consistently be at your best (warning: this might get you promoted).

I made the switch! From iPhone to Galaxy

I made the switch! From iPhone to Galaxy. It wasn’t by choice. It was forced upon me. I was on a business trip to Chicago and when I stepped out of the cab I guess my phone fell out of my pocket into the cab. A colleague traveling with me has an iPhone as well so we turned on the “Find My iPhone” app and sure enough it was in the cab. The bad part, the cab company couldn’t get the driver to respond for three days and once he finally responded he reported that “he never found an iPhone.” So it was a sad, sad day for me. I love Apple and I loved my iPhone. But for months I had been contemplating the switch and now was my opportunity. Here’s why I finally made the switch.

Productivity Tip: Make The Call

I always love discovering and sharing new productivity tips and tricks. In this video by Entrepreneur.com, productivity expert Jason Womack shares some great advice about the lost art of the phone call.

In this technology laden world we tend to forget how to best leverage the tools we have to be most effective. We often turn to email. In this video Jason lays out some simple thoughts about how to be more productive by using the phone instead. Enjoy!

One Tip To Reset Your Resolution

Many of us make New Year’s resolutions. Half-way through the year, according to the stats, 64% of us have already given up. If that’s you, it’s okay. This article will help you get back on track.

Remove the “UN” from Your Productive

Have you ever met someone who has good intentions but those good intentions never get executed? I have. On occasion, I’m one of them. When things get hectic I tend to drift from my core principles of productivity. My guess is you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Don't Just Think It... Ink It

ATTENTION: Simple tip improves success by 33% and increases earning potential 9X

Dave Kohl, Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech, conducted a study and the findings might surprise you.

  • 80% of Americans say they don't have goals - (WOW!)
  • 16% do have goals but don't write them down
  • Less than 4% write their goals down
  • Fewer than 1% review them on an ongoing basis
  • However, it’s approximated that people who regularly write down their goals earn nine times as much over their lifetimes versus people who don't.
