When I get home from work, my biggest challenge is turning work off.
I have a tendency to walk in the door, give my wife and my girls their hugs and kisses, get something quick to eat, and then go straight to the computer.
When I hear “Daddy, will you play with me?” “Daddy, can we read a book?” or “Daddy, I want to get on your shoulders,” too often I say, “...in a little while.”
The most important thing to remember is that we have a short window of opportunity…and it has nothing to do with work.
We get the privilege of saying, “YES!”
Our response has the power to build or break the spirit. These little requests won’t last forever. The way we respond will always be remembered. Here’s your opportunity to say:
"Hey girls...it's bed time. Wanna read a book? Here, get on my shoulders. I'll give you a ride up the stairs!"
