If you’re serious about taking your game to the next level, there are three things you can do to consistently be at your best (warning: this might get you promoted).
1. Fuel: You are what you eat. What has your brain been chewing on lately? Spend time reading blogs like xoombi, trade magazines, books, cds, and podcasts. Check out Kevin Eikenberry's book Bud to Boss.
2. Influence: Show me your five closest friends, and I’ll show you you’re future. If we want to get better, surround yourself with people who are better than you. Go to conferences, attend seminars, or start a mastermind. These events are great for the information and content you get and even better for the connections you make with other attendees.
3. Get a Coach/Mentor: Tiger Woods is arguably the best golfer in the world. He still works with coaches to perfect his game. Coaches have a different perspective. They see blind spots we can’t. Find someone who has a skill, talent, or lifestyle that you admire and get to know them. Don’t ask them to mentor you “on the first date.” Just get to know them and over time express your interest in learning more about their skill.
